31 Day Nail Challenge: Week 5 blue ~ deborah lippmann ~ glitter in theair?

deborah lippmann ~ glitter in the air?

I know Revlon has a polish named Whimsical that is quite similar to glitter in the air by Deborah Lippmann. However, the I have looked at the Revlon Whimsical and thought that it that the blue-green was more on the muddy side hence I have always looked at it and thought about whether or not I should try it. Recently I kind of fell into a craze for Korean Beauty Brands and found a line of TonyMoly polishes that I totally fell in love with (most probably because of the glitters), but this specific one GS08 looks even more similar to Deborah Lippmann's glitter in the air than Revlon's whimsical. Then you can pretty much guess the rest of the story, I had to have it! And Voila!

TonyMoly GS08 Review:
  • drying time: 3/5
  • even application: 4/5
  • flat glitter: 5/5
  • coverage: 1/5
In terms of formula, it is very sheer and the glitter concentration is quite sparse, but this polish is very easy to build up. My nails were done with 6 thin coats which gives me more glitters :). I really like this polish and for the price, I am very impressed with the formula. This polish has pink and light blue hexes of different sizes which creates a lot of depth for this jelly finish.

my 2012 new years eve mani

For my new years eve nails I wanted to go back to something simple and feminine
Here I did a jelly sandwich of OPIs~ kiss on the chic & pirouette my whistle which is one of my all time favourite polishes
I did one coat of kiss on the chic and one pirouette my whistle twice to get this effect
It's just something really pretty and sweet

using:
OPIs~ kiss on the chic
OPIs~ pirouette my whistle

I have been craving for this particular polish since the time I found out about it. It did not disappoint!! Totally love the sprinkle like effect! I really understand why it would be a member of the cirque du soleil collection, the colors and excitements!!
This is 2 coats and it covers well, although the glitters doesn't spread out evenly, the clustered look seems to make sense to me. Doesn't that remind you of the circus? It attracts all kinds of people and brings them to the same location forming crowds and crowds of excitement? Just a random thought. Don't know how that has to do with application of a nail polish. Have a nice day :)

using:
  • grey polish (sheer/jelly)
  • silver glitter polish
  • rhinestones
  • sponge
paint base coat to minimize color staining
  1. use sponge to dab some grey polish ideally about a bit over halfway onto nail (let dry, go onto the next nail, by the time you are finish with all five fingers, it should be dried enough)
  2. re-dab more polishes about a little under the first dabs to create a gradient look (if you want more opaque on the tips)
  3. paint a glitter polish (covering just bit over the first of grey polishes)
  4. re-dab more polishes under the glitters (to create a semi-transparent look)
  5. apply top coat as glue to hold rhinestones (use a toothpick to touch a bit of top coat to make it sticky to pick up the rhinestones)
apply top coat again to secure the rhinestones, adding shine and durability
this look is quite easy to wear with a lot of glam!
